This article suggests that a transformation of stigmatized representations on �being indigenous� should be a requirement to build the conditions of equal interethnic social interactions. The argument is developed from ! eldwork done amongst organized indigenous peoples in the Red de Defensores Comunitarios por los Derechos Humanos in Chiapas.
